
A former Manitowoc Clerk of Courts has passed away.
County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer tells Seehaferenews.com that Joan Hoffman died at Felician Village in Manitowoc at the age of 83.
Hoffman was clerk of courts for 18 years, serving from 1979 to 1997.
According to her obituary, Joan was studious in educating herself about the duties of her position as Clerk of Circuit Court and she was very instrumental in beginning the first computerized system for the Manitowoc County Court system.
After retirement, Hoffman served the people of Elias Pina, located in the Dominican Republic for 10 years. She returned to Manitowoc and volunteered with St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish.
Hoffman also spent many years in Manitowoc teaching English to Spanish-speaking individuals who wanted to learn more about the English language.
Her funeral is next Monday (February 24th) at St. Francis of Assisi Parish on Grand Avenue beginning at 1:30.
Family will greet relatives and friends at the church from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
Flags will also be lowered to half-staff next Monday.
