The Oshkosh Police Department has released its crime data from January, once again showing positive numbers.
Each month, Oshkosh Police releases crime statistics, and for the first month of 2025, the numbers show that overall, crime is down from this time last year.
Of the nine categories they track, all but two have stayed the same from last year or have gone down.
Aggravated assaults went up, with five happening last month compared to four in January 2024.
There were also eight sex offenses that occurred in January, doubling the four from January 2024.
Motor vehicle theft saw the largest decrease, down 85 percent from last year, with homicide, simple assault, burglary, and theft all also seeing major decreases last month.
January also saw Oshkosh PD Officers make 11 OWI arrests, there were 10 weapon law violations, and 41 drug and narcotic offenses.
These numbers follow a similar trend seen in 2024, which showed all crime categories minus homicide were down in the City of Oshkosh.
