A local state representative is living up to one of his campaign promises.
Assemblyman Paul Tittl has introduced a bill alongside Senator Jesse James of Thorp which they way will help bring more psychiatrists to Wisconsin.
Specifically, the measure would create an individual income tax deduction for certain income earned by an individual from the practice of psychiatry.
To be eligible, the psychiatrists must claim their deduction within their first two years of practicing in Wisconsin and may deduct up to $100,000 of income per year from the practice of psychiatry.
Those who practice in underserved areas as defined by federal law are able to deduct up to $200,000.
Tittl, who resides in Manitowoc, tells SeehaferNews.com that this bill is important for the state, because “55 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties have significant shortages of psychiatrists.”
