Shane Helmbrecht, an Eau Claire man accused of murdering his neighbor, is set to be arraigned next month.
On Wednesday, Helmbrecht appeared in court for a motion hearing, where the court reaffirmed its earlier decision that the 53-year-old is competent to stand trial.
No new competency evaluation was requested.
Helmbrecht is charged with the 2016 shooting death of his neighbor, Jenn Ward.
He had previously been found incompetent to stand trial and was ordered to live in a mental health facility.
