Adeline F. Sauer, age 95 of Manitowoc, passed away Friday morning, February 7, 2025 at Angelus Senior Living in Manitowoc.
Adeline was born on December 29, 1929 in the town of Rockland, Manitowoc County, a daughter of the late Steve and Anna (Svatek) Foreyt. She graduated from Reedsville High School with the class of 1947. On November 27, 1948, she was united in marriage to James J. Sauer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Reedsville. He preceded her in death on September 17, 2017.
Adeline worked as a waitress at Stelmachs Supper Club and was an Avon representative. She dedicated her life to caring for her children and husband. Adeline enjoyed reading, fishing, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. She was a lifelong member of St. Boniface Parish and a current member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law: Sue (Chuck) Hein, Two Rivers, Mary Cherney-Sauer, Victorville, CA; three sons and two daughters-in-law: Steve (Jane) Sauer, Manitowoc, Thomas Sauer, Manitowoc, James (Lisa) Sauer, Oak Hills, CA; eight grandchildren: Jason (Jenny) Hein, Erin Hein, Jesse (Kristen) Sauer, Jeremy (Ashley) Sauer, Vanessa, Michaela, Jennifer and Jimmy Sauer; two step-grandchildren: Timothy and Heath Belongie; four great-grandchildren: Benny Hein, Scarlet Sauer, Laurin and Hailey Sauer; two step-great-grandchildren: Jamey and Mitchell Belongie; one great-great-grandchild: Catherine Belongie; one godson: Andrew Sauer; siblings include: Emily Ruether, Francis (Joyce) Foreyt, Dorothy Foreyt; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Steve and Anna Foreyt; her husband: James Sauer; one son: Gregory Sauer; one grandson: Benjamin Jon Wesley Sauer; one daughter-in-law: Susan Sauer; other deceased relatives include: Eleanor (George) Jung, Helen (Vincent) Samz, Paul Foreyt, Russell Ruether, Marie (LeRoy) Lasse, Patricia Foreyt, Donald Radey; in-laws include: Wencil (Theresa) Sauer, Ann Sauer, Lillian (Adolph) Mazna, Catherine (Joe) Shusta, Agnes (Emil) Decker, Mayme (Joe) Decker, Clara (Harvey) Petska, Raymond (Agnes) Sauer; one godchild: Mary Karnoski; one great-nephew: Brian Ruether.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 21, 2025 at St. Franis of Assisi Parish on Grand (1416 Grand Ave), Manitowoc. The Rev. Matthew Colle will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with entombment at the Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
