The Manitowoc Public School District will wait to vote on annexing some land into their district.
A petition to alter school district boundaries was submitted by a couple who wanted to stay within the district after they moved in recently.
Their home is currently located within the boundaries of the Valders Area School District.
Interim Superintendent Lee Thennes asked the board to deny the boundary request because it would have the district annex five properties between the two districts, including the petitioner.
He continues saying the petition would impact more families than just the petitioner plus redrawing district boundaries requires a much larger conversation.
He finishes by saying that the MPSD works hard to maintain a positive and collaborative relationship with neighboring districts.
The school board ended up tabling the annexation and will wait until the Valders Area School District decides what to do.
Board Member Matthew Phipps tried to get boundary changes approved before the motion was tabled.
