As Manitowoc County got some snow yesterday and into this morning (February 13th), snowplow crews were up all day and night making sure the roads were clear.
For Manitowoc County Highway Department Director Greg Grotegut, crews were already off to a good start yesterday afternoon (February 12th) when the snow started.
He also says the department has an ample amount of salt for roads.
“Our guys will be out salt intersections and probably salt around all the way straight through,” he explained. “So, holds throughout the night and our guys will be back in early in the morning again to do a cleanup on it.”
He says highway crews will be continuously running on I-43 to make sure it stays clear during and after the snow stops.
There is a forecast for more snow to come down tomorrow night into Saturday.
Grotegut says there will be a break for snowplow crews to get the trucks ready again.
Grotegut noted, “We kind of had a break here yesterday, so the guys are getting trucks greased and cleaned up and ready for these two snowfalls that we got coming here…Friday.”
He says while there is enough staff to plow snow right now, the Manitowoc County Highway Department is always looking for more.
At the Seehafer Broadcasting studios in Manitowoc, we got about 4-5 inches of snow on the ground.
The National Weather Service hasn’t forecasted the amount of snow expected Friday night into Saturday.
