The woman charged in a multi-county deer poaching scheme has had her next court date set.
36-year-old Jessica Kroening appeared yesterday (February 12th) in front of a Washington County Judge for a hearing that saw her receive a court-appointed attorney.
Kroening’s last appearance in court delayed her case as she could not afford to retain her legal counsel, requiring a lawyer to be appointed to her by the court.
After receiving an attorney yesterday, Kroening will now be back in court on March 31st for a hearing as she faces charges of Intentionally Contributing to the Delinquency of a Child, Illegal Shining of Deer, and Resisting a Conservation Warden.
According to Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt, Kroening is accused of traveling around with three 16-year-old boys at night, shooting deer, and identifying the gender before deciding to leave it to die.
The four have also been accused of sawing the heads off bucks and intentionally hitting deer in the roadways with a vehicle.
In total, over 100 deer were killed or mistreated in the poaching scheme, which occurred in the areas surrounding Campbellsport, West Bend, Kewaskum, Lomira, and Theresa.
