The United Way Manitowoc County is recognizing a special day today (February 11th).
It’s 211 Day, which recognizes the phone number anyone can call to get free, confidential, 24-hour information and referral service that connects residents with health and human services support.
The local United Way is celebrating by fundraising with a goal of reaching $2,110 by the end of the month.
Executive Ashley Bender explained, “211 is an unmatched, critical, go-to service that provides connection and support to those who need help for a range of needs. During the day, we aim to express appreciation to the call specialists who provide support to help our community members and celebrate this lifeline.”
United Way Manitowoc County says trained specialists connected 1,539 Manitowoc County residents to locally available services.
The top six needs of last year included housing and shelter, utilities, mental health and addictions, food, and government and legal calls.
The City of Manitowoc declared today as 211 Day recently.
