The Two Rivers Police Department is honoring two fallen officers on their newly designed squad cars.
Police Chief Ben Meinnert explained on WOMT’s Be My Guest program that two badges added to the back represent Officer Leo Rocque and Thomas Dodge.
The squad cars have a new design with older-looking badges., but Meinnert says, “What’s unique about that is that is actually Rocque and Dodge’s original badges with their numbers that they wore.”
Two Rivers High School students created the decals that were placed on the backs of TR squad cars.
The new TR Police logo has been placed on almost all their vehicles.
Officer Rocque was shot and killed in the line of duty at the back door of a combined police and fire department.
His murder is still unsolved. Officer Dodge was shot and killed when he went to check on a man who had left a hospital without checking out.
The suspect was committed to a mental hospital and has since died.
