A man in Sheboygan has been arrested for mistreating animals.
The Sheboygan Police Department was called yesterday (February 6th) to the 900 block of North 11th Street to conduct a welfare check.
Arriving officers discovered blood outside the house and continued to search the premises for the occupant of the home.
Further investigation uncovered evidence indicating the subject of the welfare check was tied to mistreatment and abuse that led to the death of the suspect’s dog.
Shortly after, the suspect was located in Downtown Sheboygan where he was armed with a knife and non-compliant with the officer’s commands.
Additional officers responded to take the man into custody, using non-lethal munitions and electronic control devices to subdue and arrest him.
Authorities then noticed the unidentified suspect had various unrelated injuries and began life-saving measures before transporting him to a local hospital.
He was then medically transported to Milwaukee for additional treatment.
This incident involving the killing of a dog remains under investigation and charges are expected to be filed with the Sheboygan County District Attorney’s Office in the future.
Anyone with information regarding the case is encouraged to call the Sheboygan Police Department at 920-459-3333.
