Sheboygan’s former Chief of Police has officially signed off.
At the City’s Common Council meeting on Monday (February 3rd), proceedings began with a final farewell to newly retired Chris Domagalski after leading the Sheboygan Police Department for 15 years.
Domagalski was presented with a retirement proclamation by Mayor Ryan Sorenson, who spoke highly of the former Chief and his work in the city.
He said to the now-retired Chief, “On behalf of the Common Council and all the staff at the city, we are very privileged and blessed that you landed in Sheboygan and stayed here to help move our city forward and kept our city safe.”
Domagalski kept his remarks short but made sure to take the time to thank those who he has worked with over the last decade and a half.
“I’m extremely grateful to have been given this opportunity to lead the police department 15 years ago. It has been a tremendously rewarding job,” he said. “I can’t say enough about the support that I’ve received from the elected officials, the aldermen, the mayors, and the city administrators that I’ve had the opportunity to work with.”
Domagalski came to Sheboygan in 2010 after 18 years of working up the ranks with the Milwaukee Police Department.
His successor, Chief Kurt Zempel, who was in attendance for Monday’s meeting, took over the role of Police Chief for the Sheboygan Police Department on January 20th.
