A holiday tradition in Sheboygan centered around giving back has released its final numbers of last year’s campaign.
Making Spirits Bright, an event organized by the county’s rotary clubs, gives the community the chance to drive along a 1.1-mile-long route of Evergreen Park with light displays and music.
The only requirement to gain entry was the donation of a shelf-stable food item at the entrance, and last year, an impressive 117,324 pounds of food were donated by 89,166 guests who participated throughout the 2024 holiday season.
The event was also such a success thanks to the 1,132 volunteers who put in a total of 14,665 hours of volunteer work to make the event happen.
Last year’s food collection was donated to the Sheboygan County Food Bank early last month.
This year, Making Series Bright will mark the 14th year of the partnership with the County’s food bank and will begin in November.
