A man from Appleton will be spending the rest of his life behind bars for a 2022 murder.
53-year-old Eric W. Rogers Sr. was present in an Outagamie County courtroom on Monday (February 3rd) for his sentencing hearing.
Judge Carrie Schneider sentenced Rogers to serve life in prison after a jury found him guilty of First-Degree Intentional Homicide and three additional charges early last year.
While the life in prison term for the charge is mandatory, Judge Schneider also deemed that the 53-year-old will not be eligible for parole.
FOX11 reports that Rogers shot and killed Eric Hudson on November 15th, 2022, at a known drug house on Summer Street in Appleton.
Rogers was arrested in Green Bay two days later and told police Hudson was a good friend of his and that the Summer Street home was used to sell meth, cocaine, and prescription pills.
He also claimed that on the day of the shooting, Hudson was asleep when he left the residence.
Court records show that Rogers and his legal counsel intend to appeal the decision.
