The charges against a man accused of sexually assaulting an individual are now official.
24-year-old Demetrius J. Selman of Manitowoc was given a $300 cash bond on a charge of 3rd Degree Sexual Assault: Sexual Intercourse without Consent.
Selman was arrested after the victim, whose age and gender were redacted from the police report, told police they were picked up by Selman and two other men while waiting for their friend.
When Selman initiated sexual contact, the victim claimed to tell him “I don’t want to do this”, to which he responded, “It’s fine. Don’t worry,” and “Don’t make me sad.”
Selman later told police the sex was consensual, saying, “I did not force (the victim) into anything.”
Selman remains in the Manitowoc County Jail and is due for his initial appearance next Monday (February 10th).
