Some changes may be on the way for a popular park in the City of Sheboygan.
Evergreen Park was a topic of discussion at last night’s (February 3rd) City Council meeting involving the park’s Trail Assessment and proposed Trail Improvement Concept Plan.
Since 2023, the city has partnered with the Sheboygan County Cycling Club (SCC) and the International Mountain Biking Association Trail Solutions (IMBA) to survey the park’s trails and form a conceptual plan for future development.
This process also involved surveying Sheboygan residents on their use of and desires for upgrades at Evergreen Park.
Conceptual additions to the park’s trails would include a one-mile loop for mountain biking beginners, a pump track, a bicycle playground, and jumps.
IMBA’s assessment also revealed a major need for rerouting existing trails in the park as a lack of signage and intertwined trails have made navigation confusing for bikers.
Currently, the plan remains purely conceptual and will require review from the City’s Public Works Committee and final approval from the Common Council at a later date.
