A local soybean processer got back up and running despite a fire early Monday (February 3rd) morning.
On their Facebook page, Valders Fire and Rescue posted a video of them responding to Quality Roasting just before 1:00 am for a fire on the second floor roster-unit.
Crews arrived and found the fire coming from the roof of the building.
Valders Fire and Rescue used a MABAS box alarm to notify other departments.
Crews took a fire hose up a ladder to the catwalks of Quality Roasting to get access to the fire, which got mostly under control within 35 minutes.
Crews stayed on scene for a short time checking for fire extension and removing hot spots from the burned soybean products.
It’s estimated that the fire caused about $10,000 in lost product, although the the soybean company was able to get back up and running.
Multiple fire departments including Branch, Reedsville, Manitowoc, Silver Creek, Cleveland, Newton, Kiel, responded to the scene.
