The Manitowoc Police Department is close to its goal for a future K9 Memorial statue.
An announcement from MPD toward the end of January says they are just $5,000 away from making the memorial a reality.
The department asks anyone still willing to donate to help create a lasting tribute reflecting gratitude and respect for the heroic animals and their handlers.
The bronze statue will be placed in front of the Manitowoc Safety Building and named “Liberty.”
A Colorado artist will create the statue.
