Numerous chickens were saved from a barn fire over the weekend near Green Bay.
WBAY reports that the Green Bay Metro Fire Department was called to the 3500 block of Eaton Road in the Village of Bellevue yesterday (February 2nd) at approximately 6:15 p.m.
The initial call claimed a barn was on fire and arriving fire crews found flames coming from the barn’s first floor near a chicken coop.
Fire hoses were used to knock the flames down before moving to the barn’s hay mow which the fire had spread to.
Numerous chickens were saved from the blaze which is said to have been started by a wood-burning stove used to heat the livestock area.
Damages are estimated to be $5,000 in losses while the incident remains under investigation.
After the fire, the Green Bay Metro Fire Department thanked the New Franken and Denmark Fire Departments for their assistance in responding to the incident.
