The Menasha man charged with setting Congressman Glenn Grothman’s Office on fire is getting one count dismissed.
As we reported yesterday, 19-year-old Caiden Stachowicz asked a Fond du Lac County Judge to dismiss a making terrorist threat charge in his case because he argued that he didn’t communicate any threat ahead of the fire.
District Attorney Eric Toney argued against the decision.
Fox 11 reports that the judge in the case agreed because “the Legislature wrote the law to address those who make threats, not those who carry them out.”
However, Stachowicz will face all other charges against him in the case.
He allegedly started the fire to Grothman’s office after the Glenbeulah Republican voted in favor of banning the popular app TikTok.
A pause has been put on the ban until next month.
Stachowicz still faces charges of arson to a building, attempted burglary, and criminal damage to property.
He’s due back in court on February 17th for an arraignment.
