One person is in custody following a police chase in Fond du Lac.
The Fond du Lac Police Department was called to a reckless driver complaint on Tuesday (January 28th) just after 11:30 in the area of West Johnson Street and North Peters Avenue.
The initial call claimed a dark-colored SUV was swerving between lanes without its headlights on and attempted to ram another vehicle.
Responding officers searched the area for the vehicle and it was located traveling east on West Johnson Street.
An officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however, the driver continued before performing a U-turn and speeding off.
Authorities pursued the vehicle at speeds as high as 65 MPH before the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol joined the effort.
Tire deflation devices were successfully deployed near Highway 23 and County Road Y where the driver, a 30-year-old Fond du Lac woman, was arrested.
The pursuit stretched approximately six miles and lasted six minutes.
The 30-year-old is now facing charges of Recklessly Endangering Safety, Fleeing/Eluding, and Operating While Impaired.
