There could be some changes to short-term rental rules in Two Rivers.
City Manager Greg Buckley tells Seehafernews.com that the council spent a lot of time during their Monday (January 27th) Work Session discussing what they want to be changed regarding rentals like Airbnb’s and Vrbo’s.
Some recommendations included adding standards for how many people stay in a rental and letting residents know if a short-term rental is licensed.
Buckley explained, “People in the neighborhoods potentially are more aware of the rules that apply to these properties.”
The council asked City Attorney Andrew Adams numerous questions about short-term rental changes, including what could cause a license revocation and outdoor lighting standards.
Buckley says these topics could go through the city’s Plan Commission because some changes would go through the Zoning Code.
The city manager doesn’t expect the changes to affect the current licensing period in the city.
“Because the city licenses on vacation rentals run from January 1 to December 31, we’re already in the licensing period,” Buckley noted.
The topic of short-term rental rule changes has been discussed for years in the city and has included some concerns from the public.
Buckley says there are about 46 short-term rentals under their licensing ordinance.
