A 72-year-old school bus driver from the Hartland-Lakeside School District has been arrested for driving while intoxicated while transporting students home.
Authorities have not identified the driver, who was booked into the Waukesha County Jail.
A 9-1-1 dispatcher reported that the driver skipped eight stops and was reportedly heard with students screaming in the background.
One eighth-grader told WISN-TV they felt “held hostage” and described the driver as saying, “I’m God of this bus. I have control over when this bus comes and goes.”
The bus was finally stopped when a parent blocked the road with their car, allowing the students to exit.
