State Senator Andre Jacque is continuing his busy start to the legislative session with more bills.
Sen. Jacque, along with 1st Assembly District Representative Joel Kitchens, has introduced a bill aimed at allowing the reproduction of certain uncertified vital records.
The duo came up with the bill after hearing from a constituent.
This individual learned he was unable to make copies of certain records, such as his marriage records, and was unable to share them digitally without breaking the law.
The legislators noted, “The core problem is that current antiquated state law does not differentiate between certified and uncertified copies, which are all that is really needed for research.”
Sen. Jacque also recently announced his co-sponsorship of a bill with District 28 Senator Julian Bradley and 82nd District Assemblyman Chuck Wichgers which would allow law enforcement and firefighters who retire to get another job after retirement, specifically at police training facilities, technical colleges and firing ranges.
Under current law, those who receive retirement or disability annuity from the Wisconsin Retirement System would not be allowed to receive payments from the WRS if they are hired by an employer that participates in WRS.
The measure is formally supported by numerous law enforcement and firefighter organizations.
