Manitowoc County’s Board Chairman is reintroducing the creation of an Opioid Settlement Task Force.
Tyler Martell explained on his Facebook page that the county board will vote on the resolution during their February 18th meeting.
He says having the task force will bring necessary voices, such as public health, law enforcement, and community members working in opioid abatement.
He also says it would give the County Board more oversight into hundreds of thousands of dollars annually going solely to the Human Services Department.
The county received nearly $6 million from a series of nationwide settlements with manufacturers, distributors, and retailers of opioid pharmaceuticals.
