A newly revised referendum will be on the ballot in Sheboygan Falls this spring.
Sheboygan Falls School District Superintendent Zach Pethan has announced that, after reviewing community feedback, a $70 million referendum question targeting the district’s most critical needs will be present on the April 1st ballot.
During last year’s general election, the district asked residents two referendum questions totaling just under $100 million.
Both questions failed to obtain enough votes, and in response, the district put out a survey to gauge the community’s feelings towards both referendum questions.
After reviewing that community feedback, the district eliminated the second question entirely, which would have cost $21.5 million for athletic facility additions or upgrades.
Additionally, they decided to focus on the district’s most critical needs to improve the elementary and high schools.
The spring referendum question will remain relatively unchanged from November’s first question; however, cutting certain aspects has reduced the price tag by $8 million.
Superintendent Pethan said additional updates on the referendum will be coming in the near future via the district’s website, in the mail, and on social media.
