A man charged in a 2023 attempted homicide in Manitowoc will be going to trial.
Court records show that prosecutors and lawyers are nowhere near a resolution in the case of 61-year-old David Downs, who’s now listed as living in Keller, Texas.
District Attorney Jacalyn Lebre will be the main prosecutor when his case goes to trial.
No trial dates were set, but Downs will return to court on Friday (January 24th) for a scheduled review.
Manitowoc Police were called to the 400 block of Riverview Drive in June 2023 after Downs was allegedly seen stabbing a victim with a butcher knife and repeatedly kicking the person.
The victim needed life-saving surgery for stab wounds.
What provoked the attack isn’t known.
Downs is facing charges of attempted 1st-degree intentional homicide, substantial battery with the use of a dangerous weapon, and battery with a domestic abuse enhancer.
