Kohler High School’s cross country coach has received both state and national honors.
Joe Bourland, head coach of the boys and girls cross country teams in Kohler, has been named the Cross Country Coach of the Year in Wisconsin and United States Coach of the Year.
Bourland received the state award for both Division Two boys and Division Three girls teams.
This is coach Bourland’s second consecutive year winning the award as the top cross country coach in the state of Wisconsin.
Shortly after that announcement, it was also revealed that Bourland received the United States Coach of the Year Award as well.
This award is given out to just 50 high school coaches across all sports in recognition of being amongst the elite in high school sports.
This past year, Kohler’s boys cross country team completed a three-peat in state titles, winning in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
It was also a clean sweep for Kohler in 2024, as the girl’s team captured last year’s WIAA cross country state championship.
After the announcement, a representative from the Kohler School District said, “This is a monumental achievement that reflects hard work, dedication, and passion for cross country. Congratulations Coach Bourland on this well-deserved award.”
