The partnership between law enforcement agencies in Winnebago County has been strengthened thanks to federal funding.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office was the recent recipient of a federal grant that has gone toward the purchase of three new airboats to be used for water and ice rescue operations.
Both Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue and the Oshkosh Fire Department partner with the Sheriff’s Office to keep the county’s waterways safe in times of need
This recent funding allows for one of the newly purchased airboats to be stationed at one of the Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue stations.
For any call in their jurisdiction, the department and Sheriff’s Office will respond with the airboats while surrounding agencies will assist at landings to help launch and provide additional support.
Over the past few weeks, Neenah-Menasha crews have completed training, and the newly acquired airboat is officially in service and ready to respond to calls.
After receiving the funding, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office thanked the office of Senator Tammy Baldwin for their role in securing the congressionally directed spending.
