The Sheboygan Fire Chief has submitted the department’s end-of-the-year statistics to the Common Council.
At last night’s (January 20th) Common Council meeting, Fire Chief Eric Montellano submitted the data showing that fires were slightly down in the city in comparison to the last two years.
The Sheboygan Fire Department dealt with 80 fires in 2024, compared to 87 in 2023 and 92 in 2022.
However, Rescue and EMS calls were up slightly at 5,533 in addition to non-fire events marking an increase in total incidents the Fire Department responded to in 2024.
Station One in the city received the most incident calls, with 2,161 incidents.
With the lower number of fires, the amount of property damage also saw a dramatic drop. Just over $322,000 of property was lost by residents and businesses, over $400,000 less than the year prior.
Additionally, Chief Montellano’s data shows that over $71 million in property in Sheboygan was saved thanks to the work of the city’s Firefighters.
