Two Rivers Police are responding after a registered sex offender’s location was found to be near a school.
The department says that they recognize the frustration concerning the release of Jonah Carrico since the home he is being released at is right across from Koenig Elementary School.
However, Two Rivers Police say, “Most municipalities, if an offender holds and address within the municipality at the time of the conviction then the offender may not be restricted to return to that address, regardless of location depending on the facts of the case. In this case, the victim of the crime was not elementary aged and the release of Mr. Carrico’s residence at the time of the conviction.”
Police remind residents that the release isn’t to scare the public, but to create awareness.
Anyone with questions is again asked to call Detective Lieutenant Jake Glaser of the Two Rivers Police Department at 920-793-5509.
Residents can also contact the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry at (608)-240-5830.
