A suspect involved in a shooting situation has been arrested in Fond du Lac.
The Fond du Lac Police Department responded to a residence in the 400 block of West Scott Street on Thursday (January 16th) just before 7:30 p.m.
Initial reports claimed a male suspect fired a shotgun two or three times before fleeing the scene.
Shortly after, during a traffic stop, an officer with the police department located the suspect, a 21-year-old man, who was taken into custody.
At 7:35 p.m. authorities were made aware of an individual at a local hospital with a gunshot wound who was involved in the shooting.
One shot struck the individual, and two other shots missed.
Further investigations show that the suspect used an air-powered rifle, rather than a shotgun as initially reported to police.
Following the incident, Fond du Lac Police Chief Aaron Goldstein stated, “While the weapon involved in this shooting was an air-powered rifle designed to shoot pellets, I want to be very clear that the seriousness of this situation cannot be understated.”
The suspect currently remains in the Fond du Lac County Jail where he is facing numerous charges.
