There is a lot going on in the life of Green Bay Packer Center Josh Myers.
While the Packers’ season just came to an end, Meyers is entering the first uncertain time of his career, as his contract expired, and he has entered free agency.
Myers joined former Green Bay Packer Center Evan Smith and Ryan Brahm for an episode of the On the Line Podcast, where he noted how close he actually came to disaster at the end of the Wild Card game against Philadelphia.
“It was a close call man. I had my knee brace on which saved my knee.” He continued, “So then it was just my tib/fib, I could feel them bend. They bent super far. I was really close to breaking my leg clean in half.”
But he was able to slip his foot out just enough to avoid a major injury.
Myers had a unique path to the NFL, as he started on his high school varsity team in Miamisburg, Ohio, as a freshman and got all of the recruiting done early.
He said, “I ended up committing to Ohio State my sophomore year and then just shut down recruiting from there.”
After snapping for Justin Fields at Ohio State, Myers was drafted 62nd overall by Green Bay and started right out of the gate.
As far as this season is concerned, Josh was very complimentary to his fellow linemen, who helped produce one of the best running games in the NFL.
In fact, the Packers led the league in yards gained on inside runs despite the line being banged up.
“We’ve got such a good room right now, just a good group of guys. I think at certain points all year, all five of us were dealing with stuff,” said Myers.
That statement does bring with it a bit of baggage, as Myers is entering free agency this offseason.
While nothing is guaranteed for the tip of the spear, Josh said he loves Green Bay.
“I’m a huge fan of the state of Wisconsin, and what life is like up here; it’s on par with where I’m from.” He explained further, “So I love it and I love the organization. I hope we’re able to work something out.”
