The National Weather Service in Green Bay has issued a Cold Weather Advisory that goes into effect at 9 p.m. Saturday and will last for 48 hours, set to expire at 9 p.m. Monday.
This Advisory is in conjunction with a massive arctic cold mass that’s headed for a majority of the central and northeastern United States right from Siberia,
Some of the coldest air in decades is set to invade the lakeshore and most if not all of Wisconsin, with actual air temperatures plummeting to 5 to 15 degrees below zero at night and possibly not getting above zero from overnight Saturday until possibly Wednesday of next week.
Icy wind chills between 20 to 30 below zero are expected, with minus 35 wind chill indices in central and north central Wisconsin.
The coldest wind chills will occur between the overnight and the morning hours. Exposure to unprotected skin could cause frostbite in as little as ten minutes.
Citizens are asked to use caution while traveling outside and wear appropriate clothing, including a hat and gloves.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. If using a portable heater, ensure they are used correctly and do not use generators or grills inside.
Ensure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, plenty of food, and unfrozen water.
