Details have been released regarding Wednesday’s 911 outage in Sheboygan County.
The Emergency Management team explained that a fiber optic line was cut in Southeastern Wisconsin, which impacted all administrative phone lines coming into the 911 dispatch center.
Several cell towers were also impacted which limited some ability to call 911 on a cell phone from the general public.
Technicians from AT&T brought a mobile cell tower to Sheboygan to enhance cell coverage for the area, and overnight repairs were done to the damaged line.
Services have since been restored. Sheboygan County Emergency Management thanked AT&T “for the quick response with the mobile cell tower and to the Sheboygan Area School District for giving us a good location to put it in operations.”
