The relocation of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) processing center in Milwaukee has sparked debate among local officials and residents.
The center, which handles deportation cases, may move from its downtown location to a site on Lake Park Drive in District 9.
This move follows the sale of the downtown building to the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 2023.
Alderwoman Larresa Taylor and other local advocates have voiced concerns about the lack of community involvement in the decision-making process.
There are also worries that the new location could potentially become a detention facility for immigrants.
