In response to the recent shooting at Abundant Life Christian School, Governor Tony Evers has announced the creation of a new office aimed at tackling gun violence.
The Governor signed an executive order to establish the Office of Violence Prevention, which will collaborate with local law enforcement, community organizations, schools, and gun store owners to reduce gun-related incidents.
Evers has pledged $10 million in state funding to support the office and plans to request additional funds in the coming months for its continued operation.
He also intends to introduce a comprehensive package of measures focused on gun violence and public safety.
