Police in Oshkosh were able to take down a human trafficking operation thanks to an undercover team.
Investigators were made aware of a woman who was living at a hotel in the City and was involved in human trafficking activities.
An undercover officer went to speak with the woman just after a man exited the room.
That suspect was said to be a 32-year-old Texas man who has no ties to the Oshkosh community or the state of Wisconsin and has an extensive criminal history.
He was found to be in possession of a stolen firearm and a substantial quantity of illegal drugs, and a second firearm was found in the hotel room.
It was learned that the suspect had been forcing the victim to participate in illicit activities for several months in multiple states.
Police and local advocacy groups are working on reuniting her with her family.
The suspect initially resisted arrest but was eventually detained on charges including Human Trafficking, Being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and various counts of Possession with Intent to Deliver controlled substances like Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, and Cocaine.
Anyone with any information on human trafficking incidents, including this one, is encouraged to contact their local law enforcement agency or Crime Stoppers immediately or submit a tip using the P3 tips app.
