There is another deadly drug making the rounds, which is reportedly even more deadly than fentanyl.
Metonitazene/Etonitazene, more commonly known as Iso, is a synthetic opioid that has been turning up in overdose and substance abuse cases.
Its effects mimic those of fentanyl and heroin, and it is said to be 20 times more potent than fentanyl.
It can be absorbed by the body through skin contact, ingestion, or inhalation.
Signs of an Iso overdose include blue or purple fingernails and lips, difficulty breathing, clammy skin, vomiting, pinpoint pupils, drowsiness, and unconsciousness, all of which can occur within minutes of exposure.
If you or someone you know is struggling with addiction, you are encouraged to call either the Lighthouse Recovery Community Center in Manitowoc or Sheboygan or CORE Treatment Services.
If you believe someone is experiencing an overdose, you are encouraged to call 911 immediately.
