
Fond du Lac is ringing in the new year with safer roads.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office has wrapped up its holiday Drive Sober Get Pulled Over campaign, which began on December 11th.
Between then and January 1st, Sheriff’s Deputies made 13 arrests for OWI as the national and statewide effort aims to prevent impaired driving.
Also, during the same timeframe, deputies conducted 418 traffic stops in the county.
Those stops led to 192 citations for offenses, including speeding and operating a vehicle after revocation or suspension of a driver’s license.
Last holiday season in Wisconsin, nearly 400 crashes involved an impaired driver, five of which occurred in Fond du Lac County, resulting in six injuries.
