Republican lawmakers in Wisconsin are working to secure the state’s strict voter ID law by pushing for a constitutional amendment.
On Monday, two GOP-majority committees approved moving forward with the measure, setting up a vote in the state Senate for today.
If the legislature approves the proposal, it will be placed on the April ballot.
Including the voter ID law in the state constitution would make it harder for Democratic lawmakers or the state Supreme Court to overturn it.
