Two agencies from the area have been commended for their environmentally friendly practices in 2024.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Appleton Public Works division were recently acknowledged by Wisconsin Clean Cities for adopting cleaner fuels and technology last year.
In Appleton, the Public Works Department added six hybrid vehicles to their fleet, which saved Wisconsin from nearly 12,000 pounds of carbon dioxide pollution.
The Sheriff’s Office in Winnebago County adopted 19 hybrid patrol cars in 2024.
Last year, they also implemented idle reduction technology into their squad cars, saving the state from an impressive 213,565 pounds of CO2 pollution.
Wisconsin Clean Cities is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the state’s air quality, health, economy, and climate resilience.
