The family of an inmate who died after being left brain-dead from an attack at the Racine County Jail is seeking answers.
Joseph Lee’s loved ones held a vigil after he was removed from life support on Friday.
According to the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, Lee was assaulted by another inmate, Davonte Carraway, in the jail’s dayroom on New Year’s Eve (December 31st).
At the time, a corrections officer was supervising other inmates in the wing.
An attorney representing Lee’s family is demanding further details, including video footage of the assault.
The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation, and Carraway faces a charge of first-degree intentional homicide, as filed by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.
