A welfare check in Appleton turned into a standoff over the weekend.
Appleton Police say they were called last Friday (January 3rd) to the 2400 block of North Bay Street at 3:00 pm.
When they arrived for the welfare check, they encountered someone with a gun.
Residents in the apartment complex were evacuated, and a perimeter was set up.
Appleton Police were able to get in contact with the person who made statements requiring the Appleton Special Weapons and Tactics Team along with Crisis Negotiators.
The scene was active into the evening hours before police were able to enter the apartment building and take the person into custody.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
