Valders Sophomore Carson Wasmer had a big day from beyond the arc to help lead the Vikings to a 57-51 win over Randolph on Dick Nelson Court.
The Vikings jumped out to a 12-point lead in the first half thanks to some solid defensive play, including a strong rebound game.
Rockets Coach Tyler Fischer preached patience from the sidelines as his team clawed their way back into it in the second half, getting to as close as 3.
But some late-game heroics from Will Sieracki helped keep the Rockets at bay, including a steal and fast break bucket, followed by a fast break dish to Lucas Spindler to get momentum back in Valders’ favor and secure the 6-point win.
Wasmer knocked down three from three-point land and led the Vikings with 24 points on the day.
Sieracki added 11 for Valders, while Jacob Olson and Gavin Mayer also hit big threes throughout the contest.
As a team, Valders struggled with free throws, only hitting 3 of their 11 chances, while the Rockets went 6 for 9.
A majority of the Rockets points came in the paint, with Nick Medema leading the way with 16 points.
Troy Logan scored 10 and Jared Buwalda added 11 in the losing effort.
With the win, the Vikings improve to 4-3 and will be back in action next Tuesday as they host Kiel.
The loss drops the Rockets to 5-3 and is their second in a row.
