A faculty member of Lakeland University-Japan has authored their third book.
Patrick Parr, a member of Lakeland University-Japan’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP), has written “Malcolm Before X.”
The book explores Malcolm X’s time spent in prison during the civil rights movement.
Parr used old interviews, correspondence, and over 2,000 pages of prison records to examine this period of Malcolm X’s life.
Parr will be back in the U.S. to celebrate the book’s publication as well.
Parr is located in Tokyo at Lakeland’s Japanese campus for non-native English speakers who need to improve their English skills to meet the challenges of academic study.
Additionally, Lakeland University-Japan is the only American university in Japan that can sponsor full-time student visas for EAP students.
