A teacher at Sheboygan Lutheran High School has been recognized for his excellence in education.
Jeff Jurss, a History and Christian Leadership Teacher, has been named High School Teacher of the Year by the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS) South Wisconsin District.
Jurss is in his 30th year of teaching at Sheboygan Lutheran and is an alumnus of the school as well.
Jurss has also spent 30 years coaching the boys and girls cross country team, leading them to four state championships.
When presented with the award, Jurss said jokingly, “I’m not sure why I received this. I’m maybe the 15th best teacher on this staff.”
The Sheboygan Lutheran staff consists of just 15 teachers.
However, he continued saying, “This is a humbling award, especially because I’m part of an awesome team of coworkers that make me better.”
When not teaching or coaching, Jurss is also the head of the Crusader Scholarship Committee.
