The Federal Drug Administration has announced a nationwide recall of a brand of eye drops.
Alcon Laboratories has issued the recall of Systane Lubricant Eye Drops due to a reported fungal contamination.
The eye drops are single-vial on-the-go 25-count packages and will have lot number 10101 on the packaging.
Alcon tested the product following a customer complaint which stated foreign material was found inside one of the vials.
Fungal contamination of optical products is known to potentially cause eye infections, which may lead to vision-threatening outcomes.
Anyone with the Systane eyedrops is asked to stop using them immediately and return to the place of purchase for a replacement or refund.
More information on the recall can be found online at fda.gov/safety.
