Wisconsin’s public school libraries are receiving a historic financial boost from the state.
Last week, Secretary of State Sarah Godlewski announced that over $70 million has been allocated to school libraries from the state’s Common School Fund.
This fund, the largest financial resource for libraries in Wisconsin, is the sole source of funding for some communities.
The money comes from the proceeds of federal lands granted to Wisconsin, which have accumulated to a value of $1.5 billion to date.
