The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is reminding anglers that inland trout catch-and-release season will open next week.
Inland trout early catch and release fishing season is set to open across the state on January 4th and will run through May 2nd.
Fishers will be able to target any of Wisconsin’s inland trout species during this time.
However, the DNR has stated that only artificial lures are permitted to be used during the early catch and release season.
Additionally, no angler is permitted to keep any trout caught during this period as well.
General hook and line season is set to open on May 3rd, which will allow individuals to keep trout provided bag limits and length requirements are met.
A 20245-2025 fishing license with an inland trout stamp is required to participate.
More information on the early catch and release season of inland trout and where to find trout in your area can be found online at dnr.wisconsin.gov.
